Heroesâ Square
*Heroesâ Square, which is one of the most beautiful sights of Budapest, is located one block up from Alice Hotel, at the end of AndrĂĄssy Avenue. The centre of the square is dominated by the Millennium Monument designed by architect Albert Schickedanz and sculptor György Zala. Towering over the sculptural ensemble depicting the greatest figures of Hungarian history, the statue of Archangel Gabriel won the Grand Prix at the 1900 Paris World Fair.
Museum of Fine Arts
Located on Heroesâ Square, the Museum of Fine Arts invites visitors to take a special journey through time in the form of iconic artefacts of universal and Hungarian history from Antiquity up until the end of the 18th century. The building designed by Schickedanz and Herzog is part of the World Heritage - its exhibition halls await enthusiasts of history with unforgettable cultural experiences.
Kunsthalle
The biggest gallery of Budapest is a few minutesâ walk from Alice Hotel, opposite the Museum of Fine Arts. Kunsthalle is considered the cultural centre of the capital, where it is possible to immerse oneself in the wonderful world of arts with the masterpieces of contemporary art, special guided tours and events rich in curiosities.
City Park
City Park is one of the most wonderful excursion hubs in Budapest. It is often simply called the âligetâ (grove) by the residents of Budapest. Museum of Ethnography
Our ethnographic heritage, as living history, is a guide to understanding the cultural values of Hungary. The Museum of Ethnography, one of the largest specialized museums in Europe, preserves a collection of more than 200,000 ethnographic objects, unique photographs, manuscripts, folk music and motion picture recordings. As well as priceless objects of Hungarian folk culture, this is also where the countryâs largest international collection is stored and it is an important centre for the research of contemporary culture.
House of Music Hungary
From 23 January 2022, the new institution looks forward to welcoming the general public with diverse music programmes, and an exciting and interactive permanent exhibition on the history of music. The iconic building designed by Japanese star architect Sou Fujimoto is a true masterpiece of contemporary architecture: it presents an inimitable sight with its organically rippling roof structure pierced by holes and its immense glass walls. The cutting-edge exterior houses an integrated music centre that, through its wide-ranging programmes, offers countless music-related experiences for visitors all year round.
Széchenyi Spa
SzĂ©chenyi Spa and Swimming Pool, nicknamed âSzecskaâ, is the largest bathing complex in Budapest and Europe with a proud history going back well over a century. Construction of the baths (on the basis of designs drafted by GyĆzĆ Czigler) began in 1909 and the formal inauguration of SzĂ©chenyi Spa was on 13 June 1913. âSzecskaâ awaits those wishing to rest and relax with a variety of indoor and outdoor, recreational and medical services.
Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden
Opened in 1866, the Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden ranks as one of the oldest zoos in the world. It boasts such iconic sections as the Great Rock - Magic Mountain, Palm House, Art Nouveau Elephant House, 100-year-old carousel and the Once Upon a Time Castle playground and education complex (inaugurated: summer 2018), which by evoking the world of classical fairy tales introduces young ones to the natural world. Famous Hungarian Art Nouveau architect KĂĄroly KĂłs designed the majority of the magnificent original buildings, and even though these are very special, naturally the principal attractions are the animals: there are nearly 800 species in the park, so it is well worth devoting a minimum full afternoon to touring this great zoo and garden.
